How to Start off in Bodybuilding

Bodybuilding can fairly be described as one of the hardest sports to gain a foothold in for various different reasons. One of the major problems within young bodybuilders is a common desire to grow too quickly. You can't expect to hit the gym and wake up next morning jacked like Schwarzenneger!

Steps

  1. Find a gym. Begin by looking around your neighborhood. The best would be a gym where you can go to by foot. Like that, you can't make excuses about not going. Next, look at the mood of the gym. Curves is probably not a place where a man can train seriously. Too much distractions. Conversely, a woman might find it hard to begin lifting weights in a gym bursting with hulking bodybuilders. Finally, comes the price. Finding a good gym with a good atmosphere, at a reasonable distance and price is key.
  2. Enlist help. Many gyms offers the services of a personal trainer who can assess your degree of training and devise a training plan that will match your objectives.
  3. Keep a record of your progress. A written notebook is especially useful. You can't beat a personal record when there's no trace of it! Taking pictures of yourself is also a good way to track your progression. You can really see a difference months after months.
  4. Train diligently. Patience and dedications are the staples of a successful bodybuilder. If you're training using a full body program, begin by training once a week and work your way to three times a week. Using split-training is a good alternative.
  5. Nutrition is VERY important. You may want to take a look at the Wikihow article about bodybuilding nutrition.
  6. Sleep. After training hard and getting a good meal, your muscles are probably sore. Give them that hard earned rest. Stay away from stressful environments and get at LEAST 8 hours of sleep a night.
  7. Stay patient. Results will come.
